Temporary businesses, adult oriented, special events, carnivals, door-to-door sales, and non-profit organizations have regulations that pertain to them specifically. The Business License Office has information regarding those types of activities. If your business addresses and/or ownership have changed you will need to complete a new application. The Body Rub Parlours and Body Rub Attendants By-Law is to provide for licensing, regulating, governing and inspecting Body Rub Parlours and Body Rub Attendants.
Many types of businesses require additional certification or permits beyond the Basic Business License and registration. Requires a “Clean Hands Self-Certification” from most applicants, which is an affidavit stating that the applicant does not owe more than $100 to the District. The fee for a Special Event license such as a marathon is $209.
Businesses obtaining a business license must report their gross receipts to the Tennessee Department of Revenue on an annual basis. Business Tax is administered and collected by theTennessee Department of Revenue. The fees are based on the type of business and number of employees. If a business has non-profit status with the State of California, fees may be waived.

Application and payment of the license tax can be completed online with a credit card, by mail with check, or in person with cash, check, or credit card. You may need a copy of the City’s IRS Form W-9 to complete your payment, check with your accounting department. With few exceptions, all businesses located, operating, or conducting business within the city limits are required to have a valid business license from the City of Menlo Park. In addition, businesses operating from a residential address are required to obtain a home occupation permit from Community Development before business operations begin.
